| Cool statues at the marina by the Hamilton waterfront are some of the many interesting things to see in the city. |
Hamilton, Ontario is undergoing a renaissance, and it's high time!
For many years, the city of Hamilton has had a bad reputation as a stinky place with steel mills, run down communities, crime and homelessness. However, this is all changing.
The exciting news is that the city of Hamilton has ramped up tourism. This is the reason why I've started following
@tourismhamilton,
and so should you, if you are interested in learning more about what
the city has to offer. The organization keeps everybody up-to-date on
events, celebrations, interesting shops and places to visit.
The city has historical buildings, cool neighbourhoods and lovely urban and suburban green space. Did you know that Hamilton has over 120 waterfalls and can be considered the
Waterfall Capital of the World? (If you've read my previous blog post, then you'd know it). Did you know that Hamilton has it's own castle?
Dundurn Castle was
the home of Sir Allan Napier MacNab, one of Canada's first premiers, and is open to visitors. Or that you can walk along the
rail trail with a great view of the city?
If you are looking for a day trip from Toronto, Hamilton is your place!
