Travel photo: A storm near Kite Beach, Cabarete, DR

Kite Beach, Cabarete
Don't let the dark clouds fool you - the temperature in this scene was a balmy 22 C. Walking along Kite Beach in Cabarete, Dominican Republic early one morning during my vacation here in December 2009, I got caught in a rain storm that came up from the north.

This photo was taken early in the morning at about 8:00 a.m. (early by Cabarete standards) with the sun just peeking from the east. Within a few minutes the storm was upon me and I had to hide under a grass-roofed beach hut.

  1. I've always had good luck with weather when I've been in the Dominican.
